Iris Lauterbach (Germany) studied art history, French and Italian philology at the universities of Mainz, Pavia (Collegio Ghislieri) and Paris (Paris IV); 1985 PhD with a dissertation on French gardens in the late 18th century. She is a member of the research department of the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte, Munich, and teaches garden history at Munich Technical University. Her fields of research are the European garden history, architecture and the visual arts in national socialism and cultural policy in postwar Germany.
Marco Martella (Italy) is director of the garden journal Jardins and author, whose books of garden fiction and essays have been published in several languages. From 2003 to 2018 he was in charge of the Département des Hauts de Seine's (Île de France) historical surveys and the promotion of its green heritage; in 2018 he joined the Institut Européen des Jardins & Paysages.
