The René Pechère library was established in 2004 by Mme Solvay de La Hulpe as the nonprofit organization "Espaces Verts et Art des Jardins." In 2016 the organization became the Comité René Pechère, and under the leadership of Belgian landscape architect Jean-Noël Capart given a new program. The CRP supports the study of garden and landscape design and promotes the profession of landscape architecture. Its René Pechère Literary Award was created in 2008 to honour the memory of this outstanding Belgian garden designer. By organizing lectures, study trips, archival collections, andproviding assistance for students and scholars, the association supports the preservation of parks and gardens by Belgian designers.
